Celebrate svadhisthana and the glorious oranges of autumn

I notice this week that the leaves have started to turn from the greens of summer to the oranges of autumn.
Orange is the colour of svadhisthana or sacral chakra, it’s the energy centre that governs our sensuality and creativity. A wall balanced sacral chakra helps our ability to experience pleasure and emotional connection.

It’s located in the pelvic area so on a physical level it’s wise to keep good energy flowing through svadhisthana as it controls our sex organs and waste systems. Lower back problems and IBS can be relieved by bringing positive energy to svadhisthana.

The element of svadhisthana is water, so we can encourage energy flow through the chakra with flowing movements and dance as well as those asanas that open our hips and pelvic area. In class this week we will flow through asanas that bring awareness and positive energy to this chakra. You can expect to see variations of Deviasana, goddess pose, Uttanasana, standing forward fold and of course Natarajasana, dancer pose, my favourite!

As always we’ll flow with attention to our breath and I’ll invite you to experience each moment of your practice in its own fullness.
